Ghost - Infestissumam
Tue 05 August 2014 — download

Ghost is a Swedish music band. Wikipedia says Heavy metal, others are saying Doom, Drone, Stoner or sometimes even Pop. I say they have their own style. Five of the group's six members wear black hooded robes and the lead vocalist has a skull make-up and a Roman Catholic pope's casshock.

The band's members keep their identities secret, the vocalist calls himself Papa Emeritus and the musicians are referred to only as Nameless Ghouls.

Their first album, Opus Eponymous was quite impressive, and I was eager to ear more.

Infestissumam was released a year ago, but I missed it. I stumbled upon it yesterday, and I wasn't disapointed! The style is a bit different, but the core is still the same: every song is completely different, perfectly mastered instruments, theatrical elements and nice lyrics.

While the first album dealt with the absence of the Antichrist and the prophecy of his coming, Infestissumam is about the forthcoming arrival of the Devil and how the humanity relate to religion and diabolical presence.

This is likely the best album of 2014 :)
